CONTESTS    [ Contest Winners ]


Life, the Universe, & Everything has two annual contests; DragonComet Short Story Contest and Odyssey Poetry Contest.


Each contest is divided into the following divisions:

1. Adult Writers (Ages 18+)

2. School Age Writers (9th - 12th grade at contest deadline)

3. Young School Age Writers (5th - 8th grade at contest deadline)


Neither contest requires an entrance fee. All entries must be postmarked by January 5. Please see below for the rules and entry information for each contest.


Winners will be announced at Life, the Universe, & Everything during the closing ceremonies. Winners will also be notified by mail and/or email if they cannot attend. Winners will be posted on the LTUE web page.





DRAGONCOMET SHORT STORY CONTEST RULES:


•By entering the contest, the author agrees to abide by all contest rules.

•All entries must be postmarked no later than the contest deadline.

•Only one entry is allowed per person. Only one division can be entered per year. No simultaneous or previously published entries will be accepted.

•Stories need to be science fiction or fantasy in nature and no more than 10,000 words.

•All entries must be the author’s original work. No fan-fiction is permitted. Any plagiarism will result in the immediate disqualification of the entry.

•No graphic sex, language, violence, or profanity (as determined by the judges) will be allowed.

•All judging will be done blindly to avoid any bias of the judges. Due to this, only the title may appear on the story itself. The author's name and any identifying information must only appear on the entry form. Each page of the manuscript needs to include the story’s title and a page number.

•The judge’s decision is final.

•All entries must include a completed and signed entry form. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must sign the form to grant permission to enter.

•No email entries will be accepted.

•Entries need to be typed on 8.5 by 11 white paper, double-spaced, one-inch margins, 12-point font that is easily readable, and in English. Proofread your story before entering. Illegible entries will not be considered.

•Entries will not be returned. Do not send the only copy of your entry. We are not responsible for lost entries.
